    Satellite Phones

Does anyone know if satellite phones would be beneficial in a grid down situation like EMP or electrical grid hacked by foreign nation or an economic hyperinflation where everything comes to a grinding halt?

    iffy at best.
For realtime ...now, you should probably be outside your house to get a sat link.
For bad times, where you are and you manage to get a connection, likely the phone you're calling in NYC won't be working. Best you could plan on is satphone to satphone......... if you're lucky.

Texas during the storm and loss of power or NOLA after the hurricane, it would likely be useful.
